The Boomer Rebellion shines a defiant, yet creative spotlight on the injustice of ageism and the casting of Boomers as now irrelevant in society, whether professionally, personally or as social activists. The book advocates that Boomers return to their Sixties roots of protest, bringing the generation back together, taking on this Rebellion as their legacy accomplishment to once again shake up the world. This Rebellion builds a powerful and creative movement, in-person and online, in collaboration with the Millennial Generation, who are both their adversaries and their partners, learning from each other the methodologies and values of their generations. In the second half of the book, The Manifesto, ten big unexpected creative ideas are presented as the core building blocks. These ideas not only meant to propel the Rebellion towards success, but also demonstrate that creativity and Big Ideas are the path to both personal and professional relevancy and transition. Throughout, the Manifesto is laced with both the "Wake-Up Calls" and “The Journey,” the author's own dramatic stories, struggles and transition from being professionally discarded to emerging several years later as relevant and in-demand.

Wexler isn’t afraid to state what many would rather not discuss when the jobs reports shows that employment is up; that while the numbers look positive there are a whole set of baby boomers whose numbers are looking down. Like steel workers whose jobs are no longer relevant when a plant closes or sales decline, these baby boomers are no longer relevant because of their age even though they are smart, highly skilled and eager to work. Wexler doesn’t play the “unfair” card, instead he explores the reality of the marketplace. Companies seek a younger workforce for many good reasons at the same time recognizing that certain skills accumulated via experience are just as desirable. The theme of this book is that baby boomers need to think BIG in order to stay relevant. Using his years of advertising experience working for companies like Apple and Coca Cola, Wexler seeks to instill a methodology, he calls a Manifesto, that all baby boomers can embrace. There are a ton of BIG ideas sprinkled though out the book; including creating a work organism that consists of a baby boomer and millennial working in tangent. My guess is that this book started as a guide based on his workshops to help non-profit companies succeed. He cites his successful work with many corporations and nonprofits and his passion for the Talmud and Yoga. And if I was a business or nonprofit group of any type I’d want to read this to hear what he has to say. But that application of this book reaches a much broader audience. But be warned, Wexler thinks fast so you have to be a bit patience as he jumps from idea to idea but that patience pays off as this book leaves you, if you are a baby boomer, with a way to stay relevant. This is a unique book that provides both a strategy and tools to help you think BIG, not just smart.

Sorry Millennials We're Not Dead Yet The Boomer Rebellion edition by Gary Wexler Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews

I'm ready to join the rebellion. The definition of the underlying issues rings 100% true to this Boomer and the ten Communiques present clear action steps that apply to this, or any, significant change. I look forward to sharing it with friends and colleagues.
Interesting read, as a boomer myself its reassuring that I'm not dead yet either. Gary is a tornado of energy.
A must read for all of us Boomers. Message refuse to age gracefully. Go vividly, powerfully and memorably, and keep repairing the world with everything you've got. Gary's book urges, exhilarates and lights the way.
Whether you're a boomer, a millennial, or anything in between, this is a must read. Wexler's points are passionate, insightful, and challenge the reader to think beyond their own perspective.
As a fellow boomer, I identified with many of the experiences and emotions described by Gary in this book. I found his sense of optimism and adventure inspiring and empowering. The author lays out an orderly approach to achieving ones dreams as a boomer in today's world, but does it with a joyful, often humorous outlook that makes this a fun read as well as a valuable tool for success,
Wexler brilliantly calls attention to an unprecedented opportunity that will be lost in a decade -- for vibrant Boomers and clever but unseasoned Millennials to form unstoppable teams. Both his incisive analysis of socioeconomic forces and his frank revealing of his personal story are riveting.
Gary tells it like it is. And more than that, he suggests ways to get it a helluva lot better by mining the gold from the Woodstock generation. It's a great read and a primer for anyone in the nonprofit or as Gary prefers, the activist sector on how to get the most from all the generations. As a fellow boomer and a director of a nascent nonprofit, I enjoyed every page and was encouraged and counseled in how to best more forward. Stay strong, Gary.
